Current Events
DJ:  Is it ok for someone to buy their way to heaven?  Why or why not?

Objective:  Who is John Calvin; identify the "Act of Supremacy" (king Henry VIII); what is the Catholic Reformation?  Was it successful?

Class activities: Video clips about Henry VIII and the 95 theses; go over review sheet; do the ABC's activity and use the textbook to assist you; power point presentation about John Calvin, King Henry VIII, and the Catholic Reformation

HOMEWORK:  Finish ABC's activity and the review sheet if you did not finish it during class.

***Note:  Test for Period 8 on Friday, May 6 and Monday, May 9 for periods 3 and 5

Objectives:  Finish Renaissance culture; who is Dante and how did his works influence contemporary society?

Class activities: power point presentation - introduce Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation; 2 video clips about Dante Alighieri's "The Inferno"; magazine activity to represent the 9 circles of Dante's hell

HOMEWORK:  Finish your magazine activity if you do not finish in class

Instructions for the magazine activity:  Read the class handout of Dante's 9 circles and choose 3 that you are interested in creating a collage; find pictures from magazines, cut them out, and paste them on a blank sheet of paper to present your collage
